![]() Jet-Vac was in a training session with Spyro, Drill Sergeant, and Trigger Happy generated by Master Eon. Jet-Vac was the one who recruited a feathercat named Scratch into the Skylander ranks after hearing about her heroism at Cats Eye Mountain. While the feathered flight ace remains wingless to this day, Eon equipped him with a hearty vacuum-powered jet pack which more than makes up for it. He selflessly sacrificed his wings to save the others - and caught the attention of Master Eon in the process. Of course, there was only one option the noble Jet-Vac was ever going to go with. He was faced with a choice - either fly to safety himself, or give his wings to the mother so she and her children could make their escape. Then one day, Windham was raided, Jet-Vac was horrified to see a young mother struggling to get her children away from danger. He sailed through the air, amazing the people of his home town, Windham, and protecting them whenever danger reared its ugly head. As the years passed, Jet-Vac became known as the most daring flying ace in all of Skylands. It's traditional for Sky Barons to be given their magical wings when they are young, and when Jet-Vac got his, he quickly demonstrated some amazing aerial skills. Jet-Vac accepted the gift with gratitude, and now daringly fights evil alongside the other Skylanders. This act of nobility caught the attention of Master Eon, who sought out the young Sky Baron and presented him with a gift - a powerful vacuum device that would allow him to soar through the skies once again. But when his homeland was raided, he chose to sacrifice his wings to a young mother so she could fly her children to safety. He was given his magical wings when he was young, as was the tradition for all Sky Barons. Jet-Vac was the greatest, most daring flying ace in all of Windham. In Skylanders: Imaginators, Jet-Vac displays dedication in searching for what has been stolen from him, in his case, his lunch that was stored away within the Sky Fortress. In Full Blast, he's shown to be a bit of a defeatist, thinking his worth as a fighter is lost without a weapon. Now a Skylander, he soars where even eagles never dare. Noble and courageous, Jet-Vac always thinks of others before himself. Some upgrade notes: Eagle-Air Battle Gear = Battle of the Planets / G-Force / Gatchman reference again and Jet Vac's battle cry when doing his Flying Corkscrew move is a direct reference to Star Fox 64. To compensate, Nat gave Jet-Vac's projectiles a significant amount of push back on enemies. The final nail in the Gourdian Coffin was when Jet-Vac was named a starter pack Skylander and the starter pack was found missing a projectile hero. ![]() Nat Loh had nicknamed him "the Gourdian", a name that did not go over very well with others.ĭespite getting the character designs from I-Wei Huang who did all the Skylander drawing concepts at this point in the franchise, animator Dan Ross and gameplay designer Nat Loh tried to keep the original design intact before yielding to the inevitable: Jet-Vac had a gun. Inspired by Naruto's Benihisago (Crimson Gourd) artifact used by Ginkaku in Naruto Shippuden, mixed in with a little bit of Kirby, Jet-Vac was originally meant to pull enemies close and wallop them over the head with his vacuum gourd. When designers first pitched various Skylanders for Giants, balance designer Rich Davis pointed out that the Air element was lacking melee characters. Jet Vac's original design was very different from the final result.
